Prof. Peter Bobbert (TU/e, CCER) is the co-author of the Nature paper Classification with a disordered dopant atom network in silicon  of Jan. 15, 2020.

The paper shows that devices exploiting the correlated hopping of electrons on a network of boron dopants in silicon can perform complex classification tasks, like written character recognition. This can lead to a new energy-efficient platform for Artificial Intelligence.

About CCER

The Center for Computational Energy Research  aims to explore pathways to future energy systems. This is done via computational simulations that complement experimental energy research. The center was founded in 2017 as the result of a joint initiative between the Department of Applied Physics of the Eindhoven University of Technology and NWO Institute DIFFER.
