With the advent of the Center for Computational Energy Research (CCER), which was opened officially on June 21, cooperation will begin between TU/e and DIFFER in the area of calculations with energy. The CCER will place emphasis on model formation and explorative computer simulations, which must have a guiding role for experimental energy research.

On the longest day of the year the Center for Computational Energy Research (CCER) was officially opened. Scientific director Vianney Koelman welcomed more than 100 visitors and positioned the new center as follows "The CCER aims to accelerate energy innovation by integrating high performance computing with energy research".

On Wednesday June 21 former PvdA leader Diederik Samsom will speak at the official opening of the Center for Computational Energy Research (CCER), a new research center founded by TU/e in cooperation with DIFFER to perform computations concerning the energy systems of the future, such as nuclear fusion, solar fuels and thermal energy storage.

About CCER

The Center for Computational Energy Research  aims to explore pathways to future energy systems. This is done via computational simulations that complement experimental energy research. The center was founded in 2017 as the result of a joint initiative between the Department of Applied Physics of the Eindhoven University of Technology and NWO Institute DIFFER.
