Dr. Jonathan Citrin heads the "Integrated Modelling and Transport" group at the Dutch Institute for Fundamental Research (DIFFER), since 2016. His focus is on turbulent transport modelling of tokamak plasmas, and predicting the resultant distributions of heat, particles, and rotation, which define the plasma performance. This includes: fundamental direct numerical simulations with nonlinear gyrokinetic codes demanding high performance computing; the development of reduced turbulence models for pragmatic scenario predictions using tokamak simulator suites; applying machine learning methods to emulate such transport models, allowing fast scenario optimization and control-oriented applications.

About CCER

The Center for Computational Energy Research  aims to explore pathways to future energy systems. This is done via computational simulations that complement experimental energy research. The center was founded in 2017 as the result of a joint initiative between the Department of Applied Physics of the Eindhoven University of Technology and NWO Institute DIFFER.
